Physician Biographies

Michael W. Wheatley, MD

Since 1996, Dr. Michael Wheatley has provided excellence in family practice at Medical Associates of Southwest Virginia at Norton. Dr. Wheatley is a member of several professional medical organizations including the American Medical Association and Academy of Family Practice. Further, he is a Diplomat of the American Academy of Family Practice.

Thomas Roatsey, DO

Dr. Roatsey is Board Certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians and Preventative Medicine. He also is a Certified Medical Review Officer by the Medical Review Officer Certification Council. After completing his medical education at West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in 1992, he finished his Internship at Millcreek Community Hospital in Erie, Pennsylvania. Dr. Roatsey was Family Practice Resident at Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston, West Virginia before completing his Residency at Millcreek Community Hospital in 1995. Prior to joining Wellmont, Dr. Roatsey was previously an Urgent Care Physician at Southeast Georgia Health Systems in Brunswick, Georgia.

Dawn M. Short – RN, MSN, FNP

Dawn Short has served patients of Medical Associates of Southwest Virginia at Norton as a Licensed Family Nurse Practitioner since 2003. Short received her professional education from the University of Kentucky where she graduated in 2000. Later that year, she received board certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
