Christopher Michael Basham, MD
Board certified by the American Board of Family Practice, Dr. Christopher Basham has provided considerate healthcare to the patients of Medical Associates of Southwest Virginia at Big Stone Gap since 2002. Dr. Basham has interest in a broad range of medicine and healthcare for children, adults and the elderly.

Maurice Eugene Nida, DO, FACOI
Dr. Maurice Nida graduated from Thomas Walker High School and then earned his Bachelor of Science from Clinch Valley College in Wise, Virginia, prior to attending the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, West Virginia. After graduating as a Doctor of Osteopathy, Dr. Nida completed his internship and residency at Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston, West Virginia. Dr. Nida is Board Certified by the American College of Osteopathic Internists and the American Osteopathic Association in Internal Medicine. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists. In addition, Dr. Nida is a Medical Examiner for the State of Virginia, and he serves as Chair of the Department of Medicine for Pikeville College.

Sam G. Vorkpor, MD, MSPH
Dr. Sam Vorkpor earned his Doctor of Medicine degree at A.M. Dogliotti College of Medicine in Monrovia, Liberia. After moving to the United States, Dr. Vorkpor also earned a Master of Science in Public Health from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Vorkpor completed his residency in Family Medicine at the University of Connecticut/St. Francis Family Medicine prior to joining Medical Associates of Southwest Virginia at Big Stone Gap. Dr. Vorkpor is a member of the American College of Preventive Medicine as well as the American Academy of Family Physicians.

Teresa Roatsey, FNP
Teresa Roatsey received her Masters of Science in Nursing in 2003 from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia after receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Bluefield State College in Bluefield, West Virginia. Licensed as a Family Nurse Practitioner in a number of states, she most recently held the position of Family Nurse Practitioner at Stone Mountain Health Services in Saint Paul, Virginia. Prior to this position, she was Adjunct Faculty in Nursing at the Virginia Highlands Community College in Abingdon, Virginia and held a number of Registered Nurse positions at hospitals in Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania.
Karen Stallard, FNP
As a family nurse practitioner, Karen Stallard sees a broad spectrum of patients – ranging from late adolescents to geriatrics. Stallard is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. With a comprehensive array of clinical skills, she is able to provide quality care to patients in a timely manner.
