Physician Biographies
Marco A.C.P. Da Silva, MD, FACP
Specializing in Testicular Cancer, Dr. Marco A.C.P. Da Silva joined the professional team of medical specialists at Kingsport Hematology/Oncology in 2003. In 1985, Dr. Da Silva earned his board certification in Internal Medicine and shortly after received board certification in Medical Oncology. Dr. Da Silva completed his fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at Indiana University. Dr. Da Silva bridges language gaps with fluency in Portuguese, Spanish and English. He also is a Clinical Assistant Professor at East Tennessee State University.

Mack R. Mathews III, MD, FACP
Dr. Mack Mathews is part of the team of cancer care specialists at Kingsport Hematology/ Oncology. He graduated from the University of Louisville School of Medicine, but obtained his licensure initially in the state of KY. After completing his internship at Ohio State University, he then finished a residency at U.T. in Memphis and Hahnemann University in Philadelphia. His fellowship training was at MUSC in Charleston, St. Louis University and Barnes Jewish at Washington University. Dr. Mathews also participated in the Clinical Assistant Professorship at ETSU. Clinical interest includes Multi-disciplinary cancer care and Clinical Trials Research. Dr. Mathews is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, and Medical Oncology. In addition, he participates in continuing education and research with Clinical Trials Research and Multidisciplinary Cancer Care. He has been with Kingsport Hematology/Oncology since Nov 2000.

Edwin A. McElroy, Jr., MD
Dr. Edwin McElroy has been a part of the team of cancer healthcare providers at Kingsport Hematology Oncology since 1999. Dr. McElroy is board certified in Internal Medicine as well as Hematology and Medical Oncology. He received his professional education from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine. His residency in Internal Medicine was performed at the Mayo Clinic. He also completed a fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at the Mayo Clinic.

Manoel Moraes, MD
Board certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology, Dr. Manoel Moraes brings extensive healthcare experience to Kingsport Hematology Oncology. Dr. Moraes received his medical doctorate degree from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul Medical School. He has also completed fellowships in Hematology and Medical Oncology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation as well as Bone Marrow Transplantation at the University of Louisville.
Asheesh Shipstone, MD
Bringing expertise in Hematology and Oncology, Dr. Asheesh Shipstone has served as medical doctor for Kingsport Hematology/Oncology for three years. Dr. Shipstone has earned several professional certifications such as board certification in Internal Medicine as well as Medical Oncology and Hematology. During his residency, he focused on surgery and internal medicine.

Since 1991, Sheila Miller has provided caring service at Kingsport Hematology/ Oncology as a Certified Physician Assistant. Miller received her board certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants after completing a four-year Physician Assistant professional education program.

Deborah F. Pencarinha, MS
Earning a Masters in Genetic Counseling in 1990, Deborah Pencarinha joined the medical professionals at Genetic Counseling Services of the Tri-Cities in 2004. As a Member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors and Cancer Special Interest Group, Pencarinha gives her patients caring knowledge in genetic counseling.
